Seminole man arrested of battery

A Seminole man was arrested Feb. 24 by Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies and charged with sexual battery and felony battery.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, David Paul Rice, 20, was arrested following an investigation that began on Feb. 11. The 21-year-old female victim will not be identified per Florida statute.
The victim was known to the suspect VGP-BPS9/B , VGP-BPS9A , VGP-BPS9A/B , the report said. The crimes happened in the Seminole area from January through Feb. 7.
Detectives said the victim is from another city in Florida. She became acquainted with Rice through My Space, s social networking Web site. She moved to Pinellas County in late fall, and the crimes began shortly after.
Both the suspect and the victim are hearing impaired.
She reported the situation to a medical professional who contacted the sheriff’s office. Rice is also alleged to have tried to strangle her while committing a sexual battery.
